Living Faith Day by DayThe apostle Paul said in James 2: 18 that "Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works. People often think that the best way to show how Christian one is through good works. Others contradict them and say that you only have to have faith in order to be a Christian. These people often mistake the word "faith" for "belief". Christian faith is never dead. True Christian faith is living day by day in you. It is not something which will stand by and say that it is enough. The evidence of living faith is day by day working for the improvement of yourself and the community around you. Faith is something more powerful than plain good works but it is evidenced by good works. Many people today claim to experience "losing faith". You have to realize that you cannot lose faith. Living faith day by day means that your faith always remains inside you. People who face questions and attacks from non-believers often feel doubts and they consider this as losing faith. However, you should realize that a true Christian may doubt, but he or she never loses faith. This might seem like a paradox if you think that living faith day by day equals believing day by day. Living faith day by day can face disbelief and still remain. Faith is not destroyed by questioning, but is made stronger by it. In fact, many people today think that questioning one's belief without harming one's faith is a sure sign of spiritual maturity. Living faith day by day also equals growth. As said before, living faith is not stagnant. It is something active. This means that living faith day by day changes a person. Living faith day by day does not change a person and diminishes him or her; living faith day by day makes a person grow in the Lord. For as a person's faith grows, so does his capacity to withstand any challenge. 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse 5 says that "faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God". Many people think that faith can be based on how much their pastor knows or how much they know about the Bible or even history. However, you should realize that man's knowledge is always faulty. If you try to make your faith stand on what you know, then you would definitely fail. "Faith is the substance of things not seen". You will never be able to prove "faith" by testing it. This is not relying on the power of God but on the knowledge of Man. By testing your faith, you will only be showing that you actually do not have living faith day by day. Living faith day by day is all about you trusting God fully. Comments |
