Having Living Faith

Faith is something every Christian claims to possess. However, you should know that there is such a thing as living faith and dead faith. Where does the difference lie? Well, in 1 Corinthians 2: 5 it says, "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."

Today, a person can encounter a lot of different opinions regarding what faith is. People think that by opposing faith by man's knowledge, they can render it powerless. Often we hear of the man who has lost his faith after learning of a new discovery by anthropologists. There are people who lose their faith simply because they encounter a person who knows how to disprove everything that they claim to be true. You should know that the faith of those people was easily broken because they did not have living faith.

Living faith stands not in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Let's face it, if you put your faith in what you know, even in the Bible, sooner or later you are apt to find someone who knows more than you do. If you do not have living faith, someone will be able to disprove what you believe in. Living faith means having absolute confidence in God. It is knowing that God exists, not only because somebody else says that He does but because you personally experience Him in your life.

Doubt destroys dead faith but promotes the growth of living faith. With doubt, people struggle with their faith. Only through a struggle can we know how strong we truly are. Living faith overcomes doubt easily and matures every time it overcomes. With living faith, you will be able to overcome any challenge and rise as an even more mature Christian.

Living faith assures people that although they may be experiencing unbelief, it is not the core of who they are. If you do not have living faith, any type of doubt will confuse you and make you think that you have lost your belief.

However, with living faith, you realize that everyone experiences doubts sooner or later but that does not mean that they have lost their faith. Questioning your faith does not have to be an indicator of disobedience, it can actually indicate spiritual growth. When you have living faith, you can question your own beliefs without losing it.

Living faith works in a Christian right from the beginning. Living faith changes man's countenance. Many people who profess to be Christians acquire dead faith because they think about what they should do next. If someone says that to have faith means to give up vices, then they give it up.

However, when they experience a bit of doubt, they believe their faith dead and go back to their old ways. Living faith is not like that. When you have living faith, experiencing doubts will not stop you from doing what's right. You don't change because it is the next step to belief. You change your life because living faith demands that you do it. You want to acquire that change.

Living faith is called exactly that because it acts. Faith is dead when it really does nothing to affect the way you live. Having living faith changes the way you are living.
